Your job

Design is crucial for the Company and all its processes to be able to reach the objectives. As a Network Designer Engineer, your primary responsibility is to supervise and manage all the designs used within the Company in such a way that Unifiber can continue the deployment of its network. Proving valuable insights by creating, interpreting, analyzing and validating designs is one of the main activities on a daily base. You will work closely together with all stakeholders within the Company to maintain high standards. 

In essence, as a Designer at Unifiber, you'll be at the forefront of the start of the roll-out of the optical fiber network. You will gather information from various sources, combine them to properly restore the network's status, and perform reverse engineering if necessary. This includes using advanced tools and techniques to ensure the integrity and reliability of the network.

We're looking for an established Designer who has proven track record. You will be responsible for:

  • Evaluating detailed network design plans that include fiber optic cable routes, equipment placement, and configurations
  • Maintaining FTTH network design documents
  • Collaborating with (construction) partners to manage the project design files
  • Running daily status reports and supporting Deployment Team in submission order against design
  • Selecting the most efficient and cost-effective routing options, considering existing infrastructure and minimizing environmental impact
  • Choosing the appropriate FTTH equipment, including Optical Network Terminals (ONTs), optical splitters, and distribution frame
  • Ensuring that the selected equipment meets performance requirements and integrates seamlessly with the network
  • Stay up to date with the latest FTTH technologies, industry trends, and best practices to enhance the quality of network designs

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience as a Network Designer, preferably in a telecom environment;
  • 3+ years of experience in Auto CAD, TKI, Geostruct or similar tools for FTTH design;
  • A good understanding of HLDs, LLDs, floor plans, cable line diagrams, rack plans and fiber test records;
  • Strong coordinating and communication skills;
  • You are flexible and have the capability to support other departments in the Operations team;
  • You are driven, enthusiastic and radiate confidence and responsibility;
  • Ideally you are a native French speaker and good in English, both written and oral.

Unifiber strives to deploy a Homes Passed network in municipalities in Wallonia, varying from 4.000 to 60.000 Homes Passed (living units) per municipality.  The Operations team is responsible for the day-to-day activities and processes of the business. It’s mail role is to ensure that the company’s operations are running efficiently and effectively, and that the business is meeting its goals and objectives.
